Pete's Blog - Part 1

So, we’ve started the waiting period for the Quiksilver Ceremonial Chile presented by Subuaru. The first week of waiting saw some nice swell head into the window. The activity in the storm track is there, but doesn’t quite have the strength to produce anything big enough to get excited about. In corresponding with my local friend and fellow competitor Ramon Navarro, he's said the sand on the point at Punta de Lobos is perfect. It’s always great having Ramon giving us the lowdown on the spot. He lives in Pichilemu right on the hill overlooking the bay and surfs the area everyday.
Looking at the long-range forecast, there’s plenty of fun sized surf on tap. The beginning of next week will see waves in the 8- 12ft mark with light winds. The swells will hold through the entire week. Looks like fun times down there but no Ceremonial yet.
That said, something interesting to watch is a couple weeks out. Stay tuned as May 8-9 has my ears perked up… Big swell with light winds. Exactly what you want to see.
All the best and good surf,
